CDS and Airband are extending their fibre rollout from Hartland to Hartland Quay using a further 1.5km of fibre infrastructure.

Airband’s teams have deployed over 22km (13 miles) of fibre in the surrounding area but needed to use non-intrusive methods to extend their build to the Quay.

“The Quay is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so we have to be very sympathetic in how we work the programme through in order to get the fibre down to the Quay,” said Tony Watkins, Sales Team Leader at Airband.

“This rollout is playing a vital role in supporting local businesses by providing better broadband,” added Councillor Rufus Gilbert, CDS Board Member and Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills.

“This is exactly what ‘levelling-up’ should look like so that local businesses can achieve their full potential no matter how isolated they may be.”

One such business is the Hartland Quay Hotel, run by Donal and Sarah Stafford.

“We’re at the end of the line here, literally, from a connectivity perspective,” said Donal Stafford, who manages Hartland Quay Hotel.

“It’s really important that we have connectivity for our guests, and the systems we use now are all online, our accounting systems, our hotel management systems, so having fibre access will make our lives a lot easier.”
