AllPoints Fibre Networks (APFN) has completed the consolidation of Giganet, Jurassic Fibre, Swish Fibre, the original AllPoints Fibre, and Cuckoo into a single group, with APFN (a wholesale business) and Cuckoo (a retail business) now operating as self-standing companies.

Data and signals from policymakers indicate that the UK is unlikely to meet its 2030 targets for gigabit-capable broadband at its current rate of progress, according to a report by Cluttons assessing the progress of the UK’s digital Infrastructure rollout.
The report shows recognition by MPs that the Government needs to be doing more as the copper switch off approaches with 29% of MPs unconfident in the UK reaching 99% of UK premises with gigabit-capable broadband by 2030.
Only 33% of respondents said they were confident. Whilst this is an increase from 25% last year, it reflects a demand for more action.
Ultimately, the report calls for a Government-funded national information campaign in the lead up to the copper switch-off, backed by 50% of MPs believing more education was needed.
It also seeks an acceleration in planning changes to combat the limitations of resource cuts in local authorities.
One method for doing this would be the appointment of Digital Placemaker to sit within local authorities to bring stakeholders together and foster collaboration, says the report, citing support from 70% of MPs.
