ISPA is amongst the industry bodies supporting LSBUD’s National Safe Digging Week which is ensuring safety practices are maintained during the post-pandemic digging boom.

Whilst the government is relying on large-scale infrastructure projects to kickstart the economy, millions of pounds worth of damage is being caused by third parties hitting electric and gas networks.

July has been highlighted as the busiest and most dangerous period for digging, with Lincolnshire, Somerset, Herefordshire, Berkshire and Durham in the frame as the counties with the worst records.

Richard Broome, MD at LSBUD, said: “National Safe Digging Week is an important reminder that we need to take care of ourselves and our assets.

“I challenge you to get involved with the initiative in some way, shape or form, and help spread the ‘search before you dig’ message.”

Also endorsing the week is Western Power Distribution, Cadent, UK Power Networks, CECA, Last Mile, Sopra Steria, Linewatch, ISPA, John Robinson Associates, MUJV, Winvic and Network Plus
