Openreach is celebrating the milestone of reaching 90% coverage of its full fibre rollout across Northern Ireland – with the region becoming the first within the Openreach UK network to hit this target.

Grain has connected the 30,000th customer to its network, which covers 50 UK towns and cities including Carlisle, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bolton, Bradford, Grimsby, Hartlepool, Hull, Liverpool, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, North Shields, Oldham and Sunderland.
The altnet has 220,000 homes ready for service on its network, that have been live for around 12 months.
Richard Cameron, CEO of Grain, said: “We have 220,000 homes ready for service on our network that have been live for an average of around 10 months, We are achieving a similar take-up rate on our premises to that which Openreach has been achieving on homes live over the same time period.
The company will soon make thousands more homes live on the network, including on more than 150 New Build developments across the country.
