Quickline Communications is bringing a bespoke engagement programme to 16 secondary schools in collaboration with Ahead Partnership, introducing young people to the technology and digital sectors across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Quickline is collaborating with Tech She Can, a tech education and careers charity, to create a new animation, aimed at primary school pupils, to explain how Wi-Fi works.
In the animated lesson, Quickline engineer Katie Hook, joins Tech She Can characters Katie, Tex and Ava to explain how Wi-Fi keeps people connected and why a connection might drop from time to time.
The sketch will be used in schools to help engage, inspire and educate youngsters, and particularly girls, to study technology subjects and pursue careers in tech.
Kate Hook said: “In creating the animation, if it helps girls to better understand the world of tech and inspires them to follow a career path into telecommunications, then that’s fantastic!”
The partnership between Quickline and Tech She Can forms part of its social value commitment to the Project Gigabit contracts awarded from the government that will see us provide gigabit-capable broadband to more than 170,000 rural homes and businesses across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
