Swansea Bay City funding improves connectivity at Margum Park

A major £150,000 broadband upgrade has been successfully completed at Margum Park, Neath Port Talbot thanks to Swansea Bay City’s Digital Infrastructure Programme that will improve visitor experience at the attraction.

The improved broadband marks a new digital era for the Park, and it can now host large events without internet problems, helping services like payment systems, cloud software, and online visitor tools to work smoothly.

Local people living near the Park will also benefit, gaining improved access full fibre broadband, helping to close the digital divide.

This project is part of the Digital Infrastructure Programme’s "Connected Places" workstream, completed one month ahead of schedule and is a key step in building a more connected Neath Port Talbot.

Cen Phillips, Neath Port Talbot Councillor and Cabinet Member for Nature, Tourism and Leisure said: “Margam Park is one of Neath Port Talbot’s most treasured attractions and ensuring it has the digital infrastructure to support modern visitor experiences is a key priority.

“This investment in full fibre connectivity not only enhances the park’s ability to host large-scale events and improve operational efficiency but also strengthens its appeal to tourists and local residents alike.”

The fibre build was delivered through the Public Sector Broadband Aggregation (PSBA), the Welsh Government’s secure network for public services, and forms part of a wider £1.7m project across the Swansea Bay City Region.
