Brendoncare, a Winchester-based charity dedicated to supporting older people, has expanded its services with the help of a grant from VMO2.

The grant enables Brendoncare to add to its range of online social clubs, tech tablets and dedicated 1-1 digital skills sessions, helping older people to get online.

The pandemic changed how the charity was run with Brendoncare moving its entire programme online to protect vulnerable members.

Using a grant from VMO2’s Together Fund, the charity invested in video calling software to run 27 social clubs online a month, as well as tablets to lend out to members without access to technology, helping 13 people get online for the first time.

“For many older people using tech is challenging, but in the pandemic, it became an essential skill to help keep people connected,” said Sara Nicolls, Community Support Service Manager at Brendon Care.
