Wildanet is celebrating a double-milestone in its £77m rollout of full fibre broadband in Cornwall as part of Project Gigabit, and has now connected a total of 10,000 premises in the first two phases across the south west and central parts of the region.

Voneus and Building Digital UK (BDUK) have mutually agreed to terminate the £12m Project Gigabit contract to connect some rural areas of Shropshire.
The broadband provider won the Project Gigabit external contract for mid-west Shropshire in March 2024, to serve around 6,000 premises in rural areas including Alberbury, Westbury, Snailbeach, Wentnor, Ford, Hanwood, Longden, Dorrington, Leebotwood and Bicton.
Voneus said in a statement that the two bodies had “mutually agreed to end the Project Gigabit contract” and that BDUK was “moving swiftly to put in place alternative plans with other suppliers to connect premises that were due to be connected”.
The deal was expected to see the first premises using the high-speed network in 2025.
However, many Voneus customers had complained that slow speeds and poor customer service were affecting their businesses and family lives.
