A refinancing deal to inject almost £500m into CityFibre by shareholders is being negotiated by investors to provide fresh equity funds that would be partly used to finance further altnet takeovers.

Voneus has received a further combined capital investment of around £6.2m from its shareholder Global Connectivity plc (GCON), on 15th January, which follows from recent investment in 2024.
Rural Broadband Solutions Holdings (RBSHL) now has a significant stake in Voneus, following a move last year to merge SWS Broadband (Rural Broadband Solutions), Cadence Networks and Broadway Partners into Voneus.
It also meant that Global Connectivity kept their existing stake in RBSHL.
GCON has continued to put additional funding into Voneus via RBSHL, and this recently included another capital investment worth £20m during November 2024.
