Zzoomm is currently in discussions about a potential merger with FullFibre, in a deal that would create a new company worth around £500m.
Airband has partnered with Tarana to deploy and trial fixed wireless access (ngFWA) platform and offer customers speeds of 400 Mbps, across ranges up to 7km.
Airband’s network uses a mixture of ngFWA and fibre connections spanning more than 440,000 premises across 200 communities.
It currently has 450 masts within its network inventory and is replacing legacy equipment to upgrade their existing customers and expand their coverage area.
Five ngFWA sites have already been deployed and are delivering over 400 Mbps service to live Airband customers, with reports of 600 Mbps at installation.
Tarana’s ngFWA features interference cancellation technology that eliminates the need for line of sight, helping expand reliable broadband’s scope.
Kash Rahman, Managing Director at Airband, said: “With Tarana, ngFWA has made it simpler for us to grow our network and connect more homes and business.”
