According to data from the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER), women make up less than one fifth of the nation’s telecoms workforce, putting the UK far below the global average of 37 per cent.

CityFibre is celebrating its place for a second year running in The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality, and the fourth time the company has achieved this since 2021, implemented with a clear strategy and meaningful action.
Now in its 15th year, The Times’ collaboration with Business in the Community (BITC) has become a mark of excellence for businesses across the country to work towards.
Inclusion on the list recognises an employer is a leader in workplace gender equality, celebrating progress and examples of best practice, impact, innovation, and individual achievement.
CityFibre recently refreshed its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy, placing renewed emphasis on gender equality and tackling the barriers that hinder progress.
Key focus areas include enhanced initiatives, policies, and support around menopause, flexible working, maternity and paternity leave, health and wellbeing, and bereavement.
The company has also invested in tools, training, and peer-led support networks, helping to ensure a fair, inclusive, and accessible recruitment experience for all new joiners.
