A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Basalt Infrastructure-backed Full Fibre is bridging the urban/ rural digital divide by connecting 11 market towns it considers forgotten by the UK's FTTP rollout.
The Exeter-based Altnet is connecting 100,000 homes by expanding its fibre optic infrastructure to Leominster, Shrewsbury, Bayston Hill, Ross-on-Wye, Oswestry, Wem, Droitwich, Stourport-on-Severn, Malmesbury, Cam and Dursley, en route to achieving its goal of reaching 500,00 premises by 2025.
CEO Oliver Helm said: "Those outside dense urban areas and major cities are being disadvantaged by the lack of investment in their digital infrastructure."
"These chosen areas are currently restricted to ageing copper connections, not meeting with the needs of modern, homeworking families. It's vital that everyone in a community gets access to ultrafast, reliable services and the opportunities that come with it."
