A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
CityFibre has begun work on its £21m fibre network rollout in Hartlepool, which aims to reach almost every home and business in the town by 2025.
Construction is being delivered by Granemore Group, using a range of construction methods while working in close partnership with Hartlepool Borough Council and local communities.
The project is expected to reach completion by 2025 but the first services are expected to go live sooner.
“This project is about much more than simply putting fibre in the ground,” said Steph Carter-Smith, Area Manager for Hartlepool.
“Strong digital infrastructure plays a major role in boosting local economies, as well as supporting new services.”
Councillor Shane Moore, Leader of Hartlepool Borough Council, added: “As an authority, we are committed to growing the local economy to create a range of high-quality jobs for local people and the provision of reliable, high-speed internet services is key to that.”
