The number of homes able to get gigabit-capable broadband is up to 24.0 million (80% of all UK homes), according to Ofcom’s Connected Nations Spring 2024 update. This is up 78%, from 23.2 million since its update in September 2023.
One million Londoners can now access fibre services from Community Fibre, Backed by the Mayor of London's Connected London Team.
The milestone was welcomed by Theo Blackwell, The City’s Chief Digital Officer, who said: “It is fantastic that over one million homes in London can now connect to full-fibre broadband, giving people and businesses faster, more reliable and more affordable internet access across the capital.
“The Mayor's Connected London team and Community Fibre have worked together to bridge the digital divide and improve our city’s broadband infrastructure for the future, helping to build a better, fairer and more prosperous London for all.”
