A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Former Prime Minister Theresa May joined representatives of CityFibre and build partner VolkerHighways for a tour of their £14m project in her local constituency.
She was introduced to the full fibre digital infrastructure and was provided demonstrations of the typical build process, including excavation and reinstatement.
Area Manager Neil Madle said: “In Maidenhead, our full fibre network is expected to unlock £146 million in productivity and innovation, as well as deliver a £103 million increase in house value.”
May added: “It’s so important that we invest the time and funding into our digital infrastructure. It will make a huge difference to residents and businesses and make Maidenhead one of the best connected towns in the UK.”
In Maidenhead, CityFibre is working with launch partner Vodafone as well as TalkTalk, Giganet, Zen, IDNet, Octaplus, Yayzi, Trunk and Andrews & Arnold.
