Quickline Communications aims to allocate at least 5% of its workforce to formal apprenticeships or graduate development schemes in the next five years.
Thinkbroadband's latest figures show that 50.23% of UK premises now have Gigabit coverage, up from 26.9% 12 months ago.
The full fibre component of the 50.23% is 26.24 and that has increased from 16.8% a year ago.
The milestone 50% mark was hit as Virgin Media O2 switched on its Gig1 option in Blaydon and Dundee.
Digital Secretary Nadine Dorries said: "We have passed the halfway point in our national mission to level up the UK with lightning-fast gigabit broadband. Millions of people can now access the fastest, most reliable internet connections, allowing them full advantage of new technologies over the next forty years."
The government is aiming for 85% Gigabit coverage by the end of 2025.
