A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
GoFibre will add 82,000 premises to its full fibre network in Scotland and the north of England by the start of next year.
The expansion will see the network stretch to thirty-two harder-to-reach towns and villages including in Angus and Midlothian, plus further expansion across Northumberland.
Once this next phase of expansion is complete in early 2024, GoFibre’s network will reach almost 120,000 premises.
Adding to GoFibre’s rollout plans will be 15,500 premises in Angus and Aberdeenshire, 29,000 premises in the Scottish Borders and Midlothian, 23,500 additional premises in Fife, East Fife and 14,000 premises will be added in Northumberland.
The first premises will be connected as early as Autumn 2023.
CEO Neil Conaghan said: “This investment not only benefits the homes and businesses who will be connected to game-changing broadband, it also means we will create and support 50 more jobs in the local areas we will serve.”
