GoFibre has provided vital broadband connectivity to Midlothian locals this Christmas, ensuring that key community hubs can give essential services over the festive period and beyond.
Gorebridge Parish Church is home to Midlothian Food Bank, a separate charity that shares the church space, and can now connect with a WiFi service allowing the groups to provide support to the most vulnerable community members.
Midlothian Food Bank works on an online referral basis, and has experienced over 500 submissions during the festive period.
All referrals must be inputted into an online central database, with poor broadband connection causing delays in getting food to those in need.
Additionally, Gorebridge Parish Church relies on strong connectivity for weekly services as well as its on-demand streaming provision.
Yvette Hennessey, Manager of Midlothian Food Bank, said: “We run on referrals, with a significant amount coming through email, and without good internet access we would not be able to provide the important service that’s much needed in Midlothian, but things have improved since we switched to GoFibre.”
