ITS Technology Group’s network has gone live across Sheffield, making fibre available to more than 13,500 businesses in the city.
The network runs into five spines to serve businesses in Walkley, Crookes, Ranmoor, Crosspool, West Bar, Kelham Island, Neepsend, Hillsborough, Wadsley Bridge, Middlewood, Burngreave, Brightside, Meadowhall, Attercliffe, Greenland, Tinsley, Darnall, Highfield, Lowfield, and Woodseats.
Engineers have installed 56km of cable to ensure services reach key business and industrial areas including Atlas Industrial Park, Sheffield Business Park, Bessemer Park, and Greenland Trade Park.
ITS’ build method involves sustainably reusing existing ducts to avoid road digs and minimise disruption to local communities.
Daren Baythorpe, CEO of ITS Technology Group said: “Fibre is vital to boosting economic growth, attracting inward investment, and underpinning redevelopment projects.”
