Wessex Internet’s fibre services have gone live across 20 villages and other rural areas in Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire and Wiltshire since January 2024.
Lothian Broadband’s mission to tackle digital inequity in rural Scotland has been given a £20m boost by The Scottish National Investment Bank.
The Bank’s funding is in addition to £5m of new investment from Lothian’s current shareholders. The Scottish ISP plans to invest £75m to connect over 70k new premises in rural communities and small towns across Scotland over the next four years.
This funding will increase Lothian’s geographic ambitions, drive further operational scale-up and accelerate fibre deployment in 2022.
Gavin Rodgers, CEO of Lothian Broadband said: “The backing of the Scottish National Investment Bank supports our commitment to building quality digital infrastructure and our inclusive, community-based approach to every village and town we serve.”
