The Rt Hon Suella Braverman KC MP visited Openreach engineers to witness the delivery of fibre infrastructure across her Fareham constituency.

She was given a tour of the work, which has passed thousands of homes and businesses in the local area since work began in June 2021.

Meeting with the MP, the Openreach team was able to explain how the build in urban areas is happening alongside rural work, and they highlighted recent announcements that will bring Full Fibre broadband to hundreds of thousands of local premises.

Mrs Braverman visited the local exchange to look at where the Openreach network starts and tried her hand at joining two bits of fibreoptic cable together.

Suella Braverman MP, said: “I know from my inbox that this is a really important issue for many of my constituents and the progress, through technology, which is being made to deliver better and faster broadband is vital.”

Tony Davies, Openreach’s engagement manager for Hampshire, added: “Our engineers work hard every day to keep communities across Hampshire and the wider region connected, and it was great to be able to share the challenges and realities of delivering this technology.”
