Ofcom has celebrated the success of the One Touch Switching process, which has seen 1.6 million people change provider within the first year of its launch.
According to TOTSCO (The One Touch Switching Company), the 1.5m milestone was hit last month with rates edging upwards. It has also seen 13 million messages processed by the Hub.
Over 300 providers now offer the service which means customers no longer having to pay notice-period charges beyond the switch date, as the providers must now coordinate the switch over date.
Cristina Luna Esteban, Ofcom’s Telecoms Policy Director for Networks and Communications, said: “It’s never been simpler to switch, so we’re pleased that millions of customers have taken advantage of One Touch Switch in the last year and got themselves a new deal.
“But there are still many customers who are out of contract and could be missing out on savings. So, we’re urging people to check their contract, compare the offers out there and if changing provider gives them the best deal to switch and save.”
