A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Ogi has deployed Nokia’s next generation 25G PON fibre technology onto its network, bringing 25 Gigabits per second connectivity to tech incubator Tramshed Tech.
This is the first time technology has been deployed in a live environment in the UK.
Nokia’s 25G PON enables operators to boost fibre broadband capabilities with np new fibre needing to be laid.
Growing needs can be met addition of new optical card into the fibre nodes in their fibre exchange and new fibre modems at the customer end of the network.
Ogi’s Chief Technology and Operations Officer, Justin Leese, said: “Full fibre provides the opportunity to upgrade connectivity without the need to re-dig roads and, in its simplest form, upgrades are managed by switching out the technology at either end of the network.”
