A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Openreach is extending its network to reach almost all premises in Bishopbriggs, adding to the 15,000 already addressed throughout East Dunbartonshire.
The operator is also bringing fibre to some of the local authority area’s most rural communities through the Scottish Government’s Reaching 100% programme, including Lennoxtown and Balmore.
Robert Thorburn, Partnership Director for Scotland, said: “This is a major infrastructure upgrade, so there will be more engineering teams, equipment and vans around town, and we're working closely with East Dunbartonshire Council to keep disruption to a minimum.”
Openreach is enlisting the help of Circet for the regional rollout. Alan O’Prey, UK CEO at Circet, added: “Our local teams will be working hard to ensure there is as little disturbance as possible.’’
