Openreach network passes 335k Herts connections

Openreach is bringing faster broadband to two rural Hertfordshire villages, which now have some of the highest levels of full fibre coverage in the county, the wholesale network provider has revealed.

In Colney Heath and nearby London Colney, more than nine out of every 10 homes and businesses can upgrade to ultrafast broadband through a provider of their choice on the Openreach network.

Chorleywood ranks second, with around eight out of every 10 properties able to access full fibre, and Park Street, Rickmansworth and Baldock round off the top five locations.

More than 60 per cent homes and businesses throughout Hertfordshire are now able to upgrade to full fibre through Openreach.

The new network now reached more than 335,000 properties in the area.

Kieran Wines, Openreach Partnership Director, said: “This full fibre upgrade is a huge boost for Hertfordshire and we’re adopting a balanced build, bringing ultrafast speeds to the region’s biggest towns as well as the most rural communities.”
