Quickline is boosting connectivity across West Yorkshire, with 600 premises accessing full-fibre broadband thanks to the government’s Project Gigabit funding.
Project Gigabit currently has a total of 27 live procurements, covering a total of over 780,000 premises.
Combined with the existing 12 live contracts, this represents over £2bn of investment to reach 1.1 million premises in hard-to-reach areas with gigabit-capable broadband.
Rt Hon Michelle Donelan MP Secretary of State for the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, states: “All procurements currently planned for England have now been launched, with plans set out in Wales and continue to work closely with our counterparts in Scotland, where the Public Review of broadband infrastructure is now complete.”
Since Project Gigabit’s last progress update in June 2023, the body has launched a further nine new local and regional procurements, with a combined value of £597m, to cover up to 260,000 more premises.
The 100,000th voucher has also been used to connect premises to gigabit-capable broadband. Over 120,000 vouchers have been issued to date through the scheme and its previous iterations.
