A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
TalkTalk has supported recommendations made by the Gigabit Take-Up Advisory Group (GigaTAG) in its latest report which warns the government that a lack of Gigabit awareness could stand in the way of customer and business uptake.
The report, supported by Which? found that 59% of broadband decision makers are not aware of the term 'gigabit-capable broadband' and commercially, according to research by the FSB in December 2020, 33% of small and microbusinesses had not heard the term either.
Tristia Harrison, CEO at TalkTalk, says: "We support the research carried out by GigaTAG and continue to work with the government, Ofcom and wider industry to promote the levelling up of the UK by ensuring full fibre is affordable and accessible for all.
"Limited awareness of full fibre and its benefits is a clear barrier to adoption, so it's important that we work together to build consumer understanding."
GigaTAG also lay out the other issues facing a successful take up in this 61 page report, including lack of skills, affordability, hassle and lack of understanding on potential return on investments.
