JSM Group has been granted Ofcom Code Powers to improve its client offering by simplifying processes, particularly for power cable trenching and infrastructure projects.
Wayleave specialist Legal Firm Trenches Law has applied to Ofcom seeking Code Powers in a move to accelerate fibre distribution in Multi Dwelling Units (MDUs).
According to its application, Trenches Law intends to obtain wayleaves from freeholders, survey the premises and install fibre distribution networks within them with support from contractors.
It will then work to assign the wayleaves to other Code operators and allow them to take ownership of the fibre distribution networks, extending their FTTP networks into the premises.
Trenches Law writes: “In a digital age where seamless connectivity is crucial for work, communication, and progress, there's a segment of the population that continues to be underserved, MDUs.
“Recognising this gap, we’ve taken a significant step to help bridge the divide by requesting Code powers from Ofcom.”
