Wildanet is accelerating its £50m Cornish fibre rollout with the dual appointment of Helen Wylde as Chief Executive and Paul Buttery as Chairman.

Helen joined the Wildanet board as a non-exec director in 2021 with a roadmap to assume the role of CEO in 2022. She has held roles at Vodafone and O2 and received the Women Business Leaders Award for Technology and Digital in 2019.

Paul Buttery is the former COO at Virgin Media, where oversaw the provider’s Project Lightning rollout.

He has more than 40 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry spanning BT, Verizon, Cable & Wireless and NTL:Telewest.

Wildanet Chief Executive Officer, Helen Wylde, said: “We are making sure that future generations of people in Cornwall and the south west are connected to the internet, can work wherever they want to work and have access to all the opportunities that fast, reliable broadband opens up.”

Wildanet Chair, Paul Buttery, said: “There is a burning need for broadband and a quality telecommunications experience in Cornwall and the South West, which is currently underserved.

In December 2020 Wildanet secured a £50m investment from the Gresham House British Strategic Investment Infrastructure Fund to aid its Cornish rollout.
