CityFibre’s £21m investment into Worcester’s digital infrastructure may unlock £131m in productivity benefits, £29m from a widened workforce, £533k in Local Authority savings and £82m in increased housing value.
This comes from a study by Hatch that also lists technological benefits including £311m in gross added value (GVA) from 5G services, £87m from the Internet of Things and £55m from Smart City initiatives.
Area Manager Neal Wright said: “Full fibre encourages growth while simultaneously providing the platform needed for innovation and investment. The benefits are far reaching, as indicated within this report, which lays bare the huge economic impact that this infrastructure will bring.”
