Project Gigabit

Wessex Internet has been awarded an £18m government-funded Project Gigabit contract to address around 14,500 homes and businesses in South Wiltshire.

Wessex Internet has connected JPL Telecom Ltd to a 100Mbps full fibre connection through its ongoing Project Gigabit in Todber.

Gigaclear has been awarded a £16.6m Project Gigabit contract to address around 4,400 homes and businesses in rural east Gloucestershire.

Quickline has secured a £60m Project Gigabit contract to provide around 28,000 premises across the rural West Yorkshire and York area with access to full fibre broadband.

Government funding has enabled 1,006,800 homes and businesses to gain access to gigabit-capable networks since August 2012, according to new data. 

CityFibre has begun work to connect 45,000 hard to reach premises in Cambridgeshire as part of a £69m Project Gigabit contract.

Connexin has secured £58.6m in government funding to roll out full fibre to 34,000 rural properties in Nottinghamshire and west Lincolnshire.

Five new Project Gigabit contracts have been awarded to CityFibre totalling over £394m of government subsidy.
