All 181 primary, nursery and Additional Support Needs schools in north Lanarkshire now have fibre connections following a contract delivered by Commsworld more than 20 times the previous capacity, and secondary school connections are five times faster than before.
CityFibre has been awarded a £69m contract from Project Gigabit to boost broadband for 45,000 hard-to-reach premises in Rural Cambridge.
This will subsidise the £53m invested by CityFibre which is now committing to connect a further 170,000 homes across the county.
It has already committed approximately £100m to reach 150,000 homes in the county and combined with its new commitments, CityFibre will ultimately serve more than 365,000 homes.
CityFibre has completed rollouts in Peterborough and March and has deployment underway across Cambridge.
Detailed planning in Cambridgeshire has already begun and the first Project Gigabit connections are expected in early 2024.
CityFibre CEO Greg Mesch, said: “Participation in the programme is core to our strategy and to our ISP customers, and we are already optimising our organisation and supply chain to maximise the opportunity.”
