G.Network has secured a wayleave agreement with Islington Council and a partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA) to ensure it can address more London premises.

The altnet’s partnership with Islington Council means thousands of homes will now have access to its infrastructure.

According to recent data from broadband information site, Thinkbroadband, less than half of Islington premises can currently access a full fibre connection.

G.Network's is also collaborating with the GLA on the 'Dig-Once' approach which aims to reduce disruption, congestion and economic losses associated with infrastructure delivery.

This partnership has saved G.Network 250 days of disruption to local London communities.

Councillor Una O’Halloran, Islington Council’s Executive Member for Homes and Communities, said: “We’ll be upgrading internet connections at community spaces across the borough for free, meaning even more people and community groups will benefit from super-fast broadband.”

Theo Blackwell MBE, Chief Digital Officer for London added: “London is making huge strides in closing the digital divide, with more than 60 per cent of homes and businesses now connected to full fibre broadband, up from just four per cent in 2017.”
