A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
An additional 3,000 premises once deemed commercially unviable now have access to a fibre connection following progress made on Cheshire East Council’s Digital Cheshire initiative by Airband.
Malpas, Hampton Heath, Wrenbury and Ridley are amongst the towns and villages to benefit from Airband’s latest progress.
Redmond Peel, Founder and Director of Airband, said: “Many more customers have registered interest in the project, which bodes very well for the region as a whole, in terms of increased access to the benefits of ultrafast broadband.”
Councillor Nick Mannion, chair of Cheshire East Council’s economy and growth committee, added: “For businesses working in rural locations or from home, fibre brings a significant boost in operations and productivity.
“We will continue to work with commercial providers in welcoming their roll-out plans across Cheshire.”
The project continues to deploy full fibre broadband across Cheshire with the support of the remaining funding from the European Regional Development Fund.
