A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
CityFibre’s £270m fibre rollout in Glasgow has taken a major step forward as GCU UK begin construction in Bishopbriggs in the north east of the city.
Work has been going on south of the river for more than a year, and work in the north west of the city began last summer.
The Glasgow project is CityFibre’s largest city-wide investment for fibre deployment in the UK, and the first services have already gone live in several locations including in Paisley and Renfrew.
Services are available from launch partner Vodafone, TalkTalk and BrawBand, with other providers expected to join soon.
City Manager for Glasgow David Cannon, said: “With services live in a number of areas of the city, residents across Glasgow are already feeling the benefits.”
