CityFibre kicks off rollout in Sussex

CityFibre has begun work to connect more than 57,000 homes and businesses across areas of East and West Sussex to full fibre broadband as part of a £108m Project Gigabit award.

The rollout in Sussex was also made possible by CityFibre’s contribution of its own investment to deliver the project, which is part of the company’s commitment to reach at least eight million premises nationwide.

The connected homes and businesses across rural areas of Sussex will have access to full fibre for the first time and this rollout marks the eighth of nine Project Gigabit delivery contracts secured by CityFibre, with the first Project Gigabit customers already connected in Cambridge, Norfolk and Suffolk.

Built using XGS-PON technology, capable of supporting speeds of up to 10Gbps, the network will enable its ISP partners to serve customers with faster and more reliable broadband services than the legacy copper-based network.
