A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Most premises in the Wollaton area of Nottingham can connect to full fibre as CityFibre’s £117m citywide build progresses at pace.
The rollout is now progressing into new areas with construction underway in West Bridgford, Basford, Hyson Green and Arboretum, while work in areas such as Lutterell, Bulwell, Compton Acres, Edwalton, Abbey, Gamston, South, Meadows and Trent Bridge is set to start in the next three months.
Homes in the Bilborough, Aspley and Leen Valley areas are also ready for service. Vodafone, TalkTalk, Zen, Air Broadband and Gigabit Networks are all offering services in the city with other providers expected to join the network soon.
Dominika Walker, CityFibre’s Area Manager for Nottingham said: “Reaching this latest milestone means residents can now start to benefit from this digital investment that will future-proof their connectivity for decades to come.”
Construction is being delivered in partnership with Nottingham City Council by McCann, with the build expected to be completed by 2027.
