Connexin has completed the first stage of its Project Gigabit contract for the provision of hyperfast broadband to more than 34,000 rural homes in Nottinghamshire and West Lincolnshire.
eir evo UK will deliver a fibre network and managed services to ten regional councils across Northern Ireland as part of a ten-year £7m contract.
The solution will connect almost 600 council sites across Northern Ireland with infrastructure that enables more efficient delivery of digital services and boosts productivity for more than 8,500 employees.
Spearheaded by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council along with Mid Ulster District Council, the contract was awarded under the Local Full Fibre Networks fund.
The network services contract also future-proofs local councils through cyber security technologies and frameworks.
Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council, Councillor Paul Greenfield said: “This project will support our work towards a ‘10x Economy’ which prioritises digital innovation and will drive greater accessibility and efficiency for all councils.”
eir evo has invested £10m in the last 18 months upgrading its fibre network and adding new staff positions to its customer-facing team based in Belfast.
