The government is investing £45m to boost school infrastructure, including £25m to upgrade wireless networks in 2025 – helping get classrooms online and raising standards, in the latest phase of funding that has so far improved connectivity for more than 1.3 million pupils in 3,700 schools.

The Government has bumped its 2025 target to deliver nationally available full gigabit broadband to 2030.
Point four of the whitepaper, designed to bridge the gap between rural and urban Britain, states: “We will enhance digital connectivity through Project Gigabit and the Shared Rural Network so that by 2030, the UK Government and private sector will deliver nationwide gigabit-capable broadband.”
Openreach has confirmed this is unlikely to impact its migration dates as its own rollout targets have not changed.
Likewise, CityFibre has stated that it remains committed to reaching eight million premises by 2025 and remains in conversation with BDUK about supporting the rural build.
