A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Fibrus has surpassed the 100,000 premises mark in its national infrastructure rollout.
As part of its rollout Fibrus has created 250 jobs directly, contributing almost £11m in salaries to the local NI economy. This figure is almost doubled when sub-contractors and the extended supply chain are included.
The altnet aims to hit 250,000 premises in total by the end of this year following recent funding of £32m funding from the NI Executive to bring 8,500 of the region's hardest to reach premises into the scope of the ongoing Project Stratum.
Conor Harrison, Fibrus COO said: “What we are delivering is the most important infrastructure project of a generation.
“With the support of our partners at Infracapital, we are investing in excess of £150m on top of our recent landmark public contracts to ensure communities stay connected across the region and local businesses are able to unlock their economic potential.”
