Openreach will be supported by increased investment from BT Group and now expects to accelerate towards its target of reaching 25 million premises by December 2026, upping its build rate by 20% to up to five million premises passed during the year to March 2026.

Gigaclear is set to begin work in Newton Flotman to connect more than 1,600 homes to full fibre broadband as part of its £10m infrastructure boost for rural communities in Norfolk.
The altnet’s push into Norfolk began in the summer when work got underway in Long Stratton to connect more than 2,800 properties.
Delivery Director Tony Smith said: “Full fibre broadband is increasingly important in enabling people to work from home, stream online entertainment, scroll and gameplay and people living in rural communities deserve to be able to do this as much as anyone else.”
During the engineering work, Gigaclear will be utilising existing Openreach ducts and poles to minimise disruption. The work in Newton Flotman is set to be completed in Spring 2024.
