A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Gigaclear engineers have begun work to connect homes and businesses in Peasmarsh and Northiam as the altnet extends its network into Sussex.
More than 2,000 properties in the two villages will be the first to benefit from an initial £9m investment in the county. A further six communities are in the planning stage.
Senior Project Manager Jonathan Divito said: “The next 18 months will see us increase our activity significantly across the region. We’re focussing on harder-to-reach communities that are far less likely to have a choice of supplier.”
Gigaclear’s network stretches across southern and central England reaching over 420,000 properties. Sussex brings the number of counties it serves to 25.
