Wessex Internet has connected its first customer in South Wiltshire as part of an £18.8 million contract awarded by Project Gigabit, bringing faster broadband to around 14,500 residents across the region.
Gigaclear is extending its network into rural Warwickshire with Shipston-on-Stour earmarked as one of the first towns set to benefit.
The altnet will connect 2,727 homes and business premises across the town using over 19,000 metres of trenching to lay the fibre.
Ben Woods, Central GM at Gigaclear, said: “Having high-speed internet is essential these days. We are bringing our network to those that need it the most, allowing them to enjoy the benefits that come with fibre connectivity.”
Gigaclear’s network build in Shipston-on- Stour is expected to be completed by Spring 2023. This news follows FullFibre earmarking the same village in its rollout plans earlier this week.
