CityFibre's £80m investment into Swindon's digital infrastructure could unlock a £1.3bn economic boost for the city, according to a report by Hatch.

The study estimates that, over a fifteen-year period, the positive impacts will include £780m in productivity and innovation gains, £172m from a widened workforce and £535m in increased housing value.

CityFibre's network may also unlock £2bn in gross added value (GVA) from 5G services and £647m from IoT.

The direct impact of network construction has also created 50 jobs within CityFibre's build partners and supply chain.

James Cushing, Area Manager for Leicester at CityFibre, said: "This report demonstrates just how powerful fibre is as a catalyst for growth and a platform for innovation and investment."
