A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
Lit Fibre’s exchange in Watford has gone live for 15,000 households this month as part of a rollout that will see 60,000 homes in the town access its services.
The altnet is also live in Erdington and Westbury this month, bringing fibre to an eventual 38,000 homes across Erdington by the second half of 2024 and 6,000 Westbury households by October this year.
Tom Williams, CEO of Lit Fibre, said: “Our ambition is to supply our services to 500,000 homes by 2026, and today’s updates demonstrate the progress the business is making towards this goal.”
Its network has now passed 140,000 homes ready for service across 19 towns. It is live in Bishop’s Stortford, Chelmsford, Chippenham, Cirencester, Clacton-on-Sea, Erdington, Evesham, Harpenden, Melksham, Midsomer Norton, Potters Bar, Radstock, Redditch, St Albans, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Sudbury, Watford, Welwyn Garden City and Westbury with installation well underway in Aldridge, Basildon, Sutton Coldfield and Warminster.
