The Broadband Forum’s Fibre Access Network (FAN) Work Area has launched a project that will introduce energy-saving requirements for the industry to adhere to.
Fibre optic manufacturer STL is adopting a Science-based Targets initiative (SBTi) to boost its ambition of being Net-Zero by 2030.
The SBTi enforces more transparent and granular carbon monitoring, control, and disclosure.
STL has increased indigenous sustainable procurement in cable manufacturing from 55% in FY21 to 61% in FY22 and recycled over 1,45,000 m3 of water at its facilities.
MD Ankit Agarwal said: "Adopting SBTi will reinforce our sustainability commitment as we always believe in setting targets and measuring them scientifically.
“At the same time we hope to encourage and motivate our peers to take measures that can have a net positive impact on the present climate realities."
