A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
MLL Telecom has completed phase one its five year network services contract with Portsmouth City Council (PCC) by transitioning more than 150 sites to full fibre.
The contract awarded in 2019 will consolidate the council’s previous network solutions onto a single 132 km high speed network deployed by CityFibre and forms part of The Solent Network Framework contract.
Phase one was carried out between April and December last year connecting council offices, schools, libraries and CCTV assets.
The full fibre connections will allow MLL to provide these sites with a full range of core managed WAN services such as voice, data, internet and cloud services and ultrafast broadband.
Phase two is now underway and will see MLL connect a further 126 sites by November 2022. Once the network is fully completed MLL will be running MPLS and SDWAN services over the new fibre.
Jeremy Wastie, Head of Public Sector Sales, MLL Telecom said: “The Solent Network provides MLL with a platform for delivering new 5G and IoT applications to help deliver new services to the whole community, and with this, provide demonstrable Social Value.”
