A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
GoFibre recently hosted MSP for Angus North and Mearns and Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Land Reform and Islands, Mairi Gougeon, to its network build in Montrose.
In Gougeon’s constituency, GoFibre has built its network to 6,500 premises with a further 9,000 across the Brechin and Laurencekirk areas set to go live this autumn.
Neil Conaghan, CEO at GoFibre, said: “The visit enables us to discuss how we get fibre to homes and businesses. By utilising existing infrastructure, it often means we don’t have to dig up any passageways.”
Mairi Gougeon MSP added: “Access to the speed and reliability of fibre is so important for our rural communities if we want them to thrive and I look forward to seeing the benefits of Go Fibre’s project as it continues to roll out across Angus and the Mearns.”
