Wessex Internet has connected its first customer in South Wiltshire as part of an £18.8 million contract awarded by Project Gigabit, bringing faster broadband to around 14,500 residents across the region.
Netomnia is increasing its full fibre footprint in the south west by undertaking a £20m rollout to connect 68,000 premises across Frome and Trowbridge.
The altnet aims to hit one million premises by 2023 and as of November had hit 90k. Netomnia received £123m recently to expedite the process.
MD Alan O'Prey said: "It's getting more and more necessary for reliable, fast broadband and location should not be a prerequisite to obtaining that."
The company is partnering with KN Circet to roll out its broadband infrastructure. The first properties will go live in Q1 2022.
