A recent survey from bOnline has shown that many SMEs are unsure about the availability of altnet in their area, with confusion over the UK’s broadband roll-out strategy.
nexfibre will connect over 12,000 premises in Rochford to its full-fibre network, in partnership with its build partner Virgin Media O2.
Essex County Council’s Head of Digital Connectivity Doug Parrant welcomed the news. He said: “This work is key to bridging the digital divide and aligns with our vision for a better-connected county.
“High-speed broadband allows our residents and businesses to access the essential digital tools and services they need to succeed, alongside boosting economic growth and innovation across Essex.”
Rajiv Datta, CEO of nexfibre, added: “Boosting access to broadband, we are enabling access to the tools needed to participate and thrive in a modern, digital society and stoking growth in the local economy.”
The company recently announced it has reached one million premises, part of its overall goal of reaching five million premises by 2026.
